Wrinkles: a ridge or crease of the surface. It can be better said as every woman's worst nightmare. Just the name itself can make any woman cringe embodying self-conscious. In this article, written by Amanda Fortini, it discusses the natural beauty of a wrinkle and how so many women go to great lengths to get rid of something that could have been prevented. In this society, the idea of "perfection" is seemly only attainable by the rich and famous. So many are willing to go under the knife to get rid of these horrible lines which they claim ruin owns self-image. Fortini feels most women are in fact hypocrites. Ironically, so many women will bask in the sun for hours, year round, hoping to keep that nice natural glow, yet they are astonished when a wrinkle shows up years later.

The saying, "Pay me now, or pay me later" is a good saying for this article. You can either take care of your skin now and then look good when you're older, or bask in the sun now and see the effects later. Fortini's article was very casual and clear-cut. She questions, "What does the topography of a face say about a person?" Fortini then furthers her point by using diction such as "worry lines" "frown lines" and "baking."

This additionally made me analyze my generation's current lifestyle. The critical yet matter-of-fact tone points out the truth that comes with beauty, the damaging effects the sun has and the steps you can take to help prevent sun damage. With her audience being mainly women and sun worshippers, I enjoyed the article's boldness. Her point was proven because I will now think twice before I expose myself to the sun without using sunscreen.
