NEVER FORGET NiRVANA'S "NEVERMiND"

Nirvana was the voice of a new generation. Their groundbreaking album "Nevermind" went triple-platinum, making them the first punk-rock band to do so. That album has been one of the most influencital pieces of art in my life. It was the soundtrack through my angst-ridden years, and my rebellion years, and it even served as a soudtrack to some of the fondest memories that I have. Hundreds of bands have followed down the path that Nirvana paved. They also introduced a generation to "grunge", which became much more than simply a clothing style or music genre...it became a way of life. That album will remain timeless and will still be relievant for generations to come.

Kurt Cobain became the not only the image of a generational movement but, also its voice. He sang of things that every teenager had felt or been through in their lives...yet no one could sing about the way he did. And when Nirvana became the larger-than-life sensation that they did, it was as though finally all of those angst-ridden voices that had been silent for so long were finally being heard. No matter what lifestyle someone leads, what music they listen to, or the upbringing that they had...there is atleast one Nirvana song that reaches them on some level. Even in today's generation Nirvana is still alive and thriving amongst teenagers - angst-ridden or not.

The world is darker place without the King of Grunge. Kurt Cobain has been referred to as the John Lennon of the grunge generation. He was our voice, our leader, ourselves personifide. He lead us through and out of the darkest times in our teenage lives, and was taken from us all far too soon. Still, he lives on in every Nirvana song, lyric, lick, and guitar chord. The songs he helped make famous are being used in popular multi-million dollar grossing movies, and a new generation is being exposed to the amazing, timeless art that is Nirvana. Therefore, to me, Nirvana is something that I will never forget...and "Nevermind" will always be that one piece of art that helped to shape who I am as a person the most.
