Creation of Adam

The painting above is one of the most famous examples of the talent that Michelangelo Buonarroti possessed. He was born in 1475 and by 1512 he had painted over 300 figures on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel - a commission that he originally turned down. His style was Renaissance, a style that artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Giovanni Bellini aslo used. But one thing that sets Michelangelo aside from them is that he used a medium called "Fresco". From what I could find out about that particular medium is that is was the most affordable medium in those days - mainly because it can be made from things like berries, mud, and water mixtures. The Creation of Adam is revered as one of the most amazing artistic depictions of all time. And I could not agree more with that. While it has been spoofed in more recent times, it is my believe that it has repeatedly accomplished the main purpose of Fresco Renaissance style art was meant to do: to educate, inspire, and give pleasure to the eye, as well as narrate one or more parts of a (particular) story. The Creation of Adam helps to tell, a particular version of, one of the most well-known if not the most well-known stories in all of manind. And even though Michelangelo died in 1564 is art has remained somewhat timeless and has continued to inspire generation apon generation of artist. Who's to say when another amazingly talent artist will come along and create something of that magnatude again.
