Petruccilo's work is a visual diary, expressing thoughts and moments of her life. Each piece or installation becomes a “short story” representing painful, joyful and sometimes very ordinary bits and pieces of her life. As an artist, she makes pieces of multiple mediums carrying different textures, holding many kinds of shape, size and depth -much like her emotions that have many details and facets. I recognized their individuality and authenticity while looking at some of her other photographs. Her pieces are "the residue of her experiences," Petruccillo says on her website.
She goes on further to describe her works as an extension and translation of her senses, from a particular moment in time that resonates with an intensity in which she can only explain through their birth. In her most recent work, she revistited her truest love of working with emulsions. Once again, as it has been and as it should be, she is passionately tortured by this alternative process that makes her feel complete as an artist.
She is continuing to incorporate aluminum, brass, copper sheet & has currently been creating my newest works on plaster with mixed media. I've never even heard of her, but after reading about her I really want to check out her work.
